Palace of the Golden Horses

Palace of Golden Horses is a little out of the way from Kuala Lumpur city centre (about 30mins by car) but with the resort facilities, golfing and theme parks it can be a self-sufficient stay. Large rooms with bulky European furnishings, most offer nice views of the lake. Interestingly, the horse motif is repeated in the carpeting. Large rooms with bulky European furnishings, most offer nice views of the lake. Interestingly, the horse motif is repeated in the carpeting. Situated on the shores of a magnificent 150-acre lake in the Mines resort city, the hotel serves as a resort getaway within the outskirts of metropolitan Kuala Lumpur. It is located just 20 minutes away from the city centre and 35 minute drive from KLIA.

Carousel Cafe Restaurant, an all day dining restaurant with a fairground setting offers a-la carte menu and buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The chef's gastronomic array of cuisine from local fare to international delights will surely satisfy guest's culinary cravings. Cavallini's Italian Restaurant, an Avant-Garde restaurant with a cosy setting complemented with fine food, wine and cigars. Cavallini's offers an array of exciting Northern Italian cuisine with a lively display kitchen. Kim Ma Chinese Restaurant is an exquisite yet relaxed dining place where guests are feted to gastronomic delights from dainty Dim Sum to the innovative flavors of our modern Cantonese cuisine. Kin No Uma Restaurant offers only the finest sushi, kaiseki, tempura, teppanyaki and many more in a sophisticated decor that combines contemporary influences with traditional Japanese design. With a majestically designed architecture overlooking a scenic lake, the Grand Salon Lobby Lounge has a cosy atmosphere where guests can enjoy light music and sampling afternoon tea or evening cocktails.

The Polo Club is the place to unwind while you enjoy fine cigars and aged cognacs together with a relaxing game of pool. At the Seahorse Pool side Cafe, enjoy your favourite or snack in a laid back and easy going atmosphere. A building with an air of Middle Eastern charm complete with towers and minarets, sprawling gardens with palm trees and golf course. The enchanting palatial hotel offers a harmonious blend of the best of Moorish and Malaysian architecture. Continuing the Middle Eastern theme, the large lobby boast equally large ornate pillar and a huge dome depicting it namesake - 6 prancing horses painted on the ceiling of the dome.

Boulevard Hotel Kuala Lumpur

Located adjacent to the Mid Valley Mega Mall, the Boulevard Hotel Kuala Lumpur is also across from the Petronas Twin Towers. This makes it a good accommodation in Kuala Lumpur for both business and leisure travelers alike. The location makes it a very short walk to the KLCC and the convention center too. Shopping in Chow Kit, Bukit Bintang and the Sungei Wang Plaza is also very easy from this location as well. The Boulevard Hotel Kuala Lumpur is located in Mid Valley City Lingkaran Syed Putra and is 28.5 miles from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

The 390 rooms in the Boulevard Hotel Kuala Lumpur are all outfitted with climate controls, refrigerators with minibars, cable TV, personal safes, beverage stations, high-speed Internet access, wake up services and full-sized bathrooms too.

Visitors to the Boulevard Hotel Kuala Lumpur will be able to enjoy a large array of services that include a full business service center, private meeting and banquet rooms, a concierge desk, a fitness center, spa with massage treatments, valet parking, an in-house restaurant and lounge, swimming pool and more.

My Review:

If you found Cititel rooms too small, you can opt for Boulevard Hotel for about additional RM 80. The rooms are larger and hotel has more facilities. Each stay at Boulevard has always been pleasant, the rooms and facilities are all well maintained. For those who wish to exercise, you can head to the gym and swimming pool. Breakfast is really good as well :)

Cititel Mid Valley, Malaysia

Only a mile and a half outside of the city center, and directly adjacent to the Mid Valley Mega Mall, is the Cititel Mid Valley. It is within easy walking distance from the commuter station that can take the visitor directly into the heart of the city’s business, shopping and tourist areas within minutes. The KL Central Park Lake Gardens are also only a short walk from the hotel as well. The Cititel Mid Valley is located along the Lingkaran Syed Putra, and is 25.7 miles from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

The 645 rooms in the Cititel Mid Valley will all come outfitted with refrigerators with minibars, beverage stations, personal safes, climate controls, cable TV, high-speed Internet access, full bathrooms and wake up services.

The Cititel Mid Valley provides visitors a large array of facilities and services that include a swimming pool, spa with massage and beauty treatments, airport shuttles, an in-house restaurant and lounge, a sauna, valet parking, dry cleaning and laundry services, business service center with meeting rooms, tour and concierge desks and 24-hour reception.

My review:

The location of this hotel is really convenient as it is connected to Mid Valley and the Gardens shopping mall. Everything under one roof. Some may find the Cititel rooms a bit small and narrow, nevertheless it is kept clean. Breakfast is not bad as well and starts very early (by 6 am) so that those on working trips can get breakfast before going off.

Nanyang Royal Hotel, Guangzhou China

Located in Tianhe District, the Nanyang Royal Hotel is a perfect base while in Guangzhou. Grand World Scenic Park, Guangzhou University City Stadium and Guangzhou Bridge are within a 20 minute drive from the hotel.

The Nanyang Royal Hotel offers a convenient 24-hour reception as well as conference room(s), a swimming pool and a concierge for its guests. Hotel facilities include a beauty salon, a business centre and meeting rooms. The hotel's garden is a peaceful spot to sit and relax. Business amenities at the hotel include a secretarial service.

Rooms at the Nanyang Royal Hotel are air conditioned and include cable / satellite channels, a safe and a plasma TV. Also included in the rooms are a mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities and a refrigerator. Rooms at the hotel are fitted with floor-to-ceiling windows providing plenty of natural light. All rooms at the Nanyang Royal Hotel contain full kitchen and laundry facilities.

Guests can enjoy a drink and relax in the hotel's bar. Guests can order room service any time of the day.

Less than 10 minutes drive away are some great attractions such as the Liede Bridge, Pazhou Complex and Guangzhou International Finance Center, and conveniently there is free private parking on site at the Nanyang Royal Hotel should you require it. The hotel's help desk can book tours and tickets and help guests with local travel advice. Guangzhou Opera House, Guangdong Olympic Stadium and Grand View Plaza are a 10 minute drive from the hotel.

My review:

The hotel ambience is pretty nice, if you don't mind everything in 'gold'. The rooms are large, but have a slight musty smell. Overall, rooms are clean and well kept. The rooms have a very 'royal' feeling, probably because of the type of furniture used. Breakfast is alright as well.

The world is not such a safe place anymore..

It was sad news that a five year old girl in Johor went missing after going to the shop to buy food. Nevertheless, I think that at such a young age, she should have at least been accompanied by an adult. Anyway, hope that she is found soon :)
